Whether you’re doing some renovations or your old ceiling fan has seen its last summer, our experienced electricians will ensure you get the perfect ceiling fan for your home.

Ceiling fans are a cost-effective way to keep rooms cooler in the summer – without having to run an air-conditioner all day. Choosing a ceiling fan is more than just about looks. To get the most out of it, you should consider certain factors to save energy and make it more efficient.

Ceiling fans are perfect for keeping your home cool during hot summers, both indoors and outdoors. The circulation of air from a fan can make the room or space feel around four or five degrees cooler. Pairing a fan with your air conditioner can maximize cooling while reducing energy use throughout your home. The fan can help recirculate the cool air produced by the air-conditioning system, reducing the power consumption of your air-conditioner.

Using a ceiling fan alongside your heater is an energy-efficient way to distribute warm air throughout the room, including the floors. This pushes the warm air down from the ceiling, ensuring that more areas are heated during the long winter months.

Uѕіng ceiling fans саn reduce bоth cooling аnd heating costs fоr mоѕt homes, making thеm ideal fоr year-round uѕе. Star Plus Electrical can supply and install both indoor and outdoor ceiling fans. Our experienced electrical team will ensure you get the perfect fan for your home.

Ceiling fans are an extremely effective way of cooling your home. Most ceiling fans use only about as much power as a 60-watt light bulb, which equates to under 3 cents per hour. Ceiling fans can save you money on power bills in both summer and winter.

There is not a great deal of difference between the performance features of a 3, 4 or 5-bladed ceiling fan – so it’s about the fan design you prefer. Ceiling fans with four blades are the most common fans available. Ceiling fans with five blades usually require a bigger motor to rotate the blades, which results in higher energy consumption.

Most ceiling fans have a reversible feature. This allows for the rotational direction of the fan blades to be changed at the flick of a switch. A ceiling fan can be operated in an anti-clockwise direction during winter to push warm air down your ceiling and along the walls; this keeps the room warmer and reduces heating costs by up to 10%. In summer, the fan is switched to a clockwise direction generating a cooling breeze.

Most metal-bladed ceiling fans are covered in protective UV powder-coated paint, this reduces the chance of rust. However, if the fan will be in an area where it is exposed to salty air, sand or moisture, it is advisable to use a minimum of 304-grade stainless steel blades.

Most importantly, all ceiling fans require maintenance, if left unmaintained, your fan may become rusty, dirty and unbalanced. Regular cleaning is required, especially for fans that are used in coastal areas.
